Its been over two months since my last post, which is an eternity in blog years. But I have very good reason… I have been busily growing a little bub! So any non-essential activities have been sidelined. This included blogging, painting, drawing, walking, eating and on the really bad days – even getting out of bed! Lets face it – anything fun, really! I have just been working as much as I can to pay the bills and napping when I can. Now that I have passed the first trimester I am feeling a little better and so thought I would post some sneak-peaks of some of the work I have been doing. These jobs are all still works in progress, so I can’t say much more than that!

Paris, je t’aime

This time last year I was on my honeymoon in Paris… oooohhhh la laaaaa…. and over the past few days I have found myself back there (in a manner of speaking!)… Riding along the banks of the Seine with the rising sun, getting lost in the cobblestoned laneways, waking up next to my new husband in a new city, picnicing in Jardin du Luxenbourg, fossicking through antique posters in the markets, sipping coffee, feasting on cheese and watching the stylish Parisiens go about their lives… Here are a few of my memories…

Before I launched my own graphic design business this year, I was working with the gorgeous ladies at Melbournes much loved homewares brand – MOZI. Designing alongside the talented Camilla d’Antoine, I worked on this years ‘O’Christmas Tree’ range and the soon-to-be-released ‘The Way To My Heart’. With a name like Natalia Milosz-Piekarska, you are destined to be amazing, no? Well, this incredibly talented, charming and warm spirited contemporary jeweller is just that: Amazing. A truly inspiring artist Natalia M.P creates unique pieces exploring various aspects of superstition, folklore and ritual. She has an intuitive and playful approach to her materials and practice, employing a myriad of traditional and unorthodox elements in order to create pieces that emanate a sense of character and spirit.

She is a name to watch and an artist to start collecting. You could even pick up one of her divine pieces at her exhibition opening next week, Bad Beasts Do Not Harm Me at Craft Vic. Its my 30th Birthday soon… I know what I’ll be asking my husband for!

The Design Files

Last week my design work was featured on The Design Files, along with a little interview. I feel incredibly privileged and lucky to have had this opportunity and thank Lucy for her warmth, support and the lovely words she wrote. Its no wonder her blog is so successful – she has one of those magnetic personalities you can”t help but be drawn to.

A little background: In 2008 I was at a friends wedding, one of those gorgeous casino deutschland summery backyard weddings, when Lucy told me that she had started a “little blog” slotmachines called The Design Files about design and furniture and stuff… and she was just doing it in her spare time, in between various styling and set design projects. Fast forward three years, Lucy”s “little blog” has been named by The Times (UK) as one of the world’s Top 50 design blogs… and has an average readership of 5000 visits per day! Amazing.

Australian Plants Society

Sometimes clients are delightful and their logos a pleasure to design. Such was the case this week. The Australian Plants Society needed a facelift and while they wanted to retain some semblance of tradition, they were keen to project a contemporary new image. The extinct Grevillea rosmarinifolia ‘Lara Form’ was chosen for the logo because no deposit bonus casino the lovely folks at the Australian Plant Society are cultivating casino online holland it from seed and cutting in the hope to distribute the plant widely and ensure its survival. Cushions with a conscience

An open brief can be bitter-sweet for a designer. So when Chris from KartiMarket asked me to create a range of designs for his furniture and homewares business, with no restrictions – my brain went into overdrive!

The result? Two quirky homewares products inspired by the conversations we have with our loved ones around these domestic items (sometimes cute, sometimes cheesy!). We have all offered to do the dishes because our loved one made us a delicious dinner, right? Its about our relationship and interaction with a tea towel… or a cushion… or a teacup! Anyway, they are being printed in the UK and will be on sale here very soon, so stay tuned to pick one up!

Ruby & Alexei

This weekend seems to have been about two things; gift giving and food eating! My completely and utterly adorable to-die-for-cute niece turned 4 today. I painted her birthstone. It just so happens to be her namesake. A Ruby for Ruby. Birthstones are considered to bring good luck, protect against evil spirits, keep nightmares away and bring prosperity and wealth to the wearer. Not that she really cares, seeing she”s casino online greece only 4!

Alexei on the other hand is not ready for his birthstone yet. But he”ll get an Emerald when the time is right. He”s technically only 4 days old! Blessed with the honour of being one half of his godparents, I thought I would make little Lex an “A” to hang on his bedroom door.

Miranda Skoczek

I can”t remember when I first saw a Miranda Skoczek painting, but I have never forgotten it. So you can imagine how I felt when I stumbled into Melbourne”s amazing Fenton & Fenton, and she was everywhere. It may be her unexpected use of colour, the way she sits somewhere between abstraction and jogar casino representation, but to me, her paintings create a space for the viewer to explore the past, ponder the present and dream of the future. I want one. Miranda is represented by Edwina Corlette Gallery in Queensland, but if you live in Melbourne you can see her new works at Fenton & Fenton in Prahran.
